Servants of Salamar
Once a group of peaceful protectors cursed to become warriors for a powerful serpent leader. Waging war against the people of Violem with an affinity for snakes, worshipping the reptiles as the superior species.
They are no match for us, on their own anyway. But it's that serpent! How are we suppose to a thing that big down while facing its small army of snake lovers?
Corrupted Beginnings:
Before the group became extremists fuelled by vengeance, another stood before them. A group of close and trusted allies to Serapentus, Acuran of Serpents whose purpose was to protect the giant serpents after generations of war against bird beasts in a distant realm. This first iteration of the group were given the title of Disciples of Serapentus and they kept their word for many years. But this age of peace was short lived when Salamar found his kidnapped comrades. You see, Salamar was another giant serpent, a warlord among his kind with a unique ability to command lesser beings against their will. He used this power during the war to turn enemies against one another and force allies to fight to the death. A tyrant many of the reptilian warriors avoided out of fear. So when he found out that a wizard from another realm had taken soldiers from his war, lowering his chances of victory. He began searching for the missing, obsessed with bringing them back into the war. He journeyed to the realm of magic to find his slithery friends hidden in cages across the realm, with no appetite for conflict anymore. This enraged Salamar to the core and gave him new mission in life. To use his hypnotic powers to regain his allies and take vengeance on Violem for enslaving his kind. But needing an army, he used the Disciples at the time and cursed them with the same hatred for Sorcerer that burned inside his soul. Thus, corrupting the group and turning them into The Servants of Salamar.Bones and Scales:
Now with the once tamed serpents hiding around Violem infected with a feral curse, the actions of the Salamar and his servants were getting noticed. In particular the monster hunters known as The Ivory Champions began uncovering the plans of war against the realm and stood up to defend their home realm. This led to an new ongoing war between the servants and champions, seeing the giant serpents slain and servants disbanding. Leaving only Salamar against this heroic army. In the final battle, Salamar was banished from Violem, imprisoned in a pocket dimension until his eventual isolated death. The servants of Salamar have not been seen or heard of since.Current Affairs:
Rumours have been spreading around Birohhal about an increased number of snake attacks on the plateau and mountain region near Sinsilaghoare. The connection between the serpent tomb and the snake attacks doesn't seem to be a coincidence and has made people begin to wonder if the servants have returned, planning something new.Appearance:
While they have not been seen since the age of exploration, the servants can be easily identified. Often wearing some form of transulcent cloak or cape to represent a snake shedding its skin. Sporting a combination of scale armour and snake themed weaponry whilst in combat. Some even go as far as to charm their eyes to resemble slits and extend their canine to protrude like fangs.
