Sabren

A natural predator in the plains and forests of Violem, the Sabren is a fierce large cat creature with a magical connection to psychic magic. With natural markings that resemble runes, it can channel its thoughts into physical blasts to stun their prey and turn the odds in its favour whilst hunting.

Appearance:

Whilst exploring the wilds, you will come across a Sabren when it wants to be seen. Exposing itself by walking on all fours, with a silky smoothe coat of varying browns to blend into its habitat. Wearing around its neck a colourful mane with longer, thicker hair that matches the colour of its natural markings. Marking that appear on the centre of its head and on the pads of its paws.   These rune-like shapes allow the Sabren to conjure highly concentrated energy and release them to enact spectacles; similar to how a sorcerer summons the essence of magic and casts it as a desired. From the 3rd eye in the centre of its forehead, the creature can produce a psychic beam capable of stunning even the biggest of beasts. From its feet, it can increase its strength and speed, allowing it to pounce on its prey with twice the force.   The few adventurers who have encountered this beast and simultaneously know how to speak the language of Jynx, Cat Tonuge, have claimed the Sabren seems to comprehend the language. This knowledge has allowed travellers to talk their way of a fight with this powerful creature. This and many other factors, including the inability to charm them, have led monster hunters to conclude the Sabren has a higher state of sentience compared to other wild beasts.
Many people see the Sabren as a threat, especially those Ivory folk. But I, and my predecessors, see the animal as a symbol of natural magic. A creature with raw power that reaches its potential through patience and using its natural talents. Something we hope our students learn whilst at the university.

If one is successful to catch and kill a Sabren, then they would be capabale of making incredibly potent elixirs of strength and speed. Perhaps use their fur as a coat, although it is said their fur feels more like wire bristles than anything soft.
