Land of Kurse

The realm of monsters use to be a world where ancient beasts roamed free, ruling the land by their own rules. But that all changed when creatures from other realms began to invade. Overtime the invaders created new monsters that spread like wild fire and claimed land for themselves. The hybrids between man and monster, vampires and werewolves. Now all inhabit and claim continent worth of ground. This is known as the land of Kurse.  
 

The Lost:

The beginnings of the land of Kurse can be traced back to the original humans who stumbled into the realm by mistake. Stories past down by generations speak of travellers who were on the hunt for witches located a portal to this strange new world. But upon entering, they had no idea how to return and were trapped in the realm of monsters. But humans are resourceful and made a small camp around the waystone they entered from. Over the years, the camp grew into a village, then a town, before becoming the central citadel for the human descendants, now called Hunters.  

The Invaders:

While the humans were expanding in one region, another set of explorers from the realm of magic discovered the realm. Fascinated with learning everything they could, they began created small safe communities to begin research about the realm and the natives that reside here.   One of these explorers was something more evil and corrupt than any ancient beast. A sorcerer obsessed with power. Deciding to take it upon himself to experiment with combining the biology of sorcerers with monsters to create new abominations referred to as hybrids. These hybrids escaped the control of their creator and began populating the lands. Taking over the forests and mountains, eventually building their own homes and cities. Pushing the native beasts to the furthest edges of the land and resorting to hiding out of fear of being outnumbered.   As for the magical invaders, they found that their magic was weakened in this realm, deeming it a cursed land. Forcing them to live like any other magic-less being. For this reason, the sorcerers decided to return back to the world of Violem. But as sorcerers left, some of the non magical natives called Minauran took the chance to step into the realm of monsters and begin a new life away from magic. Eventually finding and mingling with the stranded humans, building even more safe civilizations to keep out monsters and hybrids.  
 

Notable Locations:

The current population of Kurse is made of three major groups. Hunters, vampires and werewolves. With several pockets of minor groups scattered throughout the land. Including small covens of witches and wizards that cling to the old ways of magic and ancient beasts with shapeshifting abilities to hide within the cities. As for hybrids, you may stumble into Wendigo, Dopplegangers, Banshees and many more.   With so many sentient beings living across the lands, there are many sites and locations to visit if you dare to face the dangers that lie ahead.   Viol: The original settlement of sorcerers, now a fortified and abandoned town with several research books locked away. The perfect spot for those seeking to learn more about magic.   The Hidden Waystone: Whispers speak of a waystone buried deep underground somewhere in the South West of Kurse. Many ancient beasts and hybrids have attempted to locate it but only a handful have suceeded.   New England The original settlement of the humans, named in honour of where they came from. With a waystone to the realm of humans at the centre that is now the largest hunter city across Kurse.   Lab of Halvar the Mad: A hidden tower somewhere the northern forests, said to be the home of all hybrids. Rumours say the spririt of Halvar still haunts the tower, tethered to it after an experiment gone wrong.   The Shrieking Shambles A monster black market in the East, selling all kinds of foul meats and other forbidden items.   Aberville: Once a town of hunters, now entirely populated by vampires. Shrouded in a dark veil to allow them to walk in all times of day.   Hunter Town: Home of the infamous hunter family the Flying Oaks.
