Artificial Waystone
Ever since the great portal ban that ended the age of exploration and began the age of darkness, sorcerers and necromancers alike have attempted to create new forms of portal magic. Hiding their attempts from prying eyes in underground to avoid being executed for breaking a near world wide law. With the most difficult creation being an artificial waystone, something that has taken hundreds of years that has been refined and perfected in more recent years. Although no official technology exists, many tinkerers guess there is one or two of these hand made waystones hidden in the city of Elsgard.
Evidence:
Recent rumours in the city of Elsgard have started circling around about an artificial waystone hidden somewhere in the sewers below the surface. It all started when people began noticing strange weather patterns in the skies above. Sudden lightning storms and the shadows of Sauratar lurking in the clouds. Then there is the sudden rise in kidnappings across the city. All skilled workers in scribing runes or building machines that are fuelled by lightning. The council of coin have grown concerns that someone is building this artificial waystone and are frantically searching for the people responsible.Ya know hunny, it pays to keep an ear to the ground an' listen to what people are saying on the streets. Now I ain't saying its all facts but... I've been told a thing or two about this fake waystone being built. Things like the size of it must be bigger than any of the skyscrapers outside, and the cost of it all. Must be some real rich folk whose funding it all. If ya ask me, why, I'd say it were one of those council folk. They're all about making money. And who would benefit more than a council that could get resources anywhere in Violem with little to no fuss.
