Vering-Gol
Hail mighty Vering-Gol
Mighty and Indivisible stands the crooked rock. Against time herself, bound by magic and held to Eranor by the strands of fate.
Led by Lord Consular Urudium Septum, the nation stands against the predations of Ibral and as a beacon of light within the darkness of the world.
Vering-Gol as a whole, and Emberward especially, are rife with both mages and magical schools. Few wizards have not seen Vering-Gol's shores, as the best of the best of universities and colleges are here.
The presence of so many mages and schools has led to the assumption that any mage that has trained on her shores, i.e. all of them, are somehow beholden to the country. This has led to a counter establishment of universities in every country, though they are often more specialized or seen as less capable.
Those who are not mages still serve a purpose in society, though their function as a predominantly serf class sets them as third class citizens beholden to regional ministrators, who are mages. The life span of a serf is typically around forty years, being forced into a life of hard labour or farming.
There is a class of citizens, denoted as free citizens, who exist, not as serfs, but as members of society. These are those people who have some smidgeon of magical ability, or tradesmen of particular skill, and their immediate family. To be part of this class of society is to be subject to the will of Vering-Gol, as they are the ones who grant your freedom and they will take it away as easily.
