Witchfinder

A witchfinder is a person specializing in tracking and killing Shapers who practice forbidden shaping essences (usually Vitethus - blood shaping, though certain regions ban other shaping practices as well).

Types of Witchfinders

The official job-title of witchfinder is only officially appointed by the Orthodox Atovist church with approval from a regulatory body residing in Cipecus University in Solgrad. However, various other governments have taken to naming their shaper-hunters witchfinders as well, including the shaper-hunters of Narr, which also hunt Dredges.

Witchfinder Methods

Witchfinders typically aren't shapers, putting them at a disadvantage in a direct confrontation. Witchfinders rely heavily on intel, numbers, ambush tactics, and essence hardening to give them the edge they need.

Essence Hardening

Essence Hardening is a tactic witchfinders use to block certain Essence from being usable in shaping. This effectively nullifies a shaper's abilities. The area of effect is dependant on the Witchfinder's skill.
