Elgin Freightway
Elgin Freightway
Last Lord of Petrea
Elgin Freightway was the Lord of Petrea from a young age, as his father was killed in a hunting accident when he was 19. He was married at 24 to a noble woman named Giannina Goldblood, a marriage done to unite their two houses. His wife had his first child in 1446, a boy he named Thorin. Unfortunately, two years later his wife died in labor with his second child, and the child died shortly after. He remarried five years later, when he was 33. He married Giannina's older sister, a widowed woman named Giavanna Goldblood. This fully united the two houses, as the Head of House Goldblood died with only two children. Elgin had two children with his second wife. In 1454, when he was 34, he had his second child, a girl he named Aema. Three years later he had his third child, a boy he named Erwin. He was convinced to rebel against the Emperor in 1474. He declared Petrea's independence, but was killed within a year in an ambush by Arthur Gideon. They met on the battlefield and fought, with Arthur cutting off Elgin's sword arm during the duel and then stabbing him in the heart. His son Thorin would go on to fight and die for Petrea's independance, and then his son Erwin would finally win independence, and rule as king.Relationships

Additional Information
Some scholars speculate that Elgin had secretly taken Giavanna as his lover sometime during his first marriage, and that her only child with her first husband was his. These claims are largely unfounded, other than claims that the child had the dark hair of the Freightways, rather than the ginger hair of his father.
