Short and Stout

Dwarves are a hardy and strong people, despite only measuring under 5 feet tall. There are two main Dwarven Clans in Veteria, though there are some other smaller ones. The Mountain Dwarves come from the Dohmram Mountains, usually referred to as the Gloomy Mountains. The Capital city in these mountains is Khundarom. The Hill Dwarves come from the Hills of Dilborah. The Dwarven Capital here is Girnkohm. Dwarves are often heavy drinkers, and they seemingly endless reserves of pride. However, they are extremely loyal and are usually very good natured. They have had a rather tumultuous relationship with the High Elves, as they have gone to war several times, with most wars resulting in a truce. They have a good relationship with the Humans of Hemlock after they allied to fight off the High Elves from Girnkohm centuries ago.

Biological Traits

Though they stand well under 5 feet tall, dwarves are so broad and compact that they can weigh as much as a human standing nearly two feet taller. Dwarven skin ranges from deep brown to a paler hue tinged with red, but the most common shades are light brown or deep tan, like certain tones of earth. Their hair, worn long but in simple styles, is usually black, gray, or brown, though paler dwarves often have red hair. Male dwarves value their beards highly and groom them carefully.
