Andrin Freightway
Prince of Petrea
Andrin Freightway was born in the year of 1479, four years after his family won the Petrean Revolution. He was the first prince in Petrea's history, and was treated as such, as he was pampered and spoiled his entire childhood. He had a wild youth, and he was known for causing trouble and sneaking out of the castle. Despite this, he loved his father, and looked up to him greatly. He never knew his mother, she died of illness soon after he was born. As he grew up, he took an interest in more creative pursuits than the rest of his family, such as music and painting. He trained with a bard, and soon became a skilled lute player. As he grew, he also got bolder and bolder, often sneaking into bad parts of Freightway. He began to sneak out often, frequenting the gambling dens and brothels of the city's underbelly. It was said that he fathered a few bastards in this time, though he never recognized any of them. This all changed when he was 21, and his father died. He was quickly thrust into a leadership role, which changed him very quickly.The Zealot King
When Andrin became King, he tried to emulate his father's example. He quickly stopped leaving the castle, and he became a shut-in for two years. He rarely showed his face in public, and he made very little moves as King. His Hand of the King, Henrick Osborne, made many of the decisions for him. This all changed when Andrin was visited by a priest of Pelor. The Priest asked the crown for assistance in funding an orphanage in the seedy part of the city, and the mans impassioned request moved the King. Andrin decided to grant the request, and he also visited the man's temple. Andrin became a devout follower of Pelor soon after. He banned gambling and prostitution in Freightway, and finally began to step into his own as the King. Henrick Osborne stepped down in 1508, and Andrin instilled Joffrey Lancaster as the new Hand of the King. Joffrey was another very religious man, and his family was very wealthy. Andrin married Joffrey's sister, Alycia Lancaster, in 1509. Alycia was not a follower of Pelor, but was considered a perfect match for Andrin by all his advisors. She steered him away from many decisions, such as his idea to make Pelor the official religion of Petrea. They had three children together, two daughters and a son. Their first child, a son named Audwin, was born in 1510. Their second child was a daughter named Lucianne Freightway, born in 1513. Their third child was another girl born in 1515, Martina Freightway.Later Life
Andrin was a generally liked ruler, though he ruled through a time of relative peace. His son mostly took after his mother, and Audwin was a shrewd individual with little regard for religion. Lucianne was a devout follower of Pelor, and when she turned 18, she joined a temple as a priestess, and never married or had any children. Martina was known for being wild and rebellious, and she had a terrible relationship with her parents. At 17 she became pregnant, and the father was the stableboy that tended to Andrin's horses. When Andrin found out he was furious, and he kept the stable boy in the dungeon until the baby was delivered, and then he sent the baby, a girl, to live with its father on a property bought by the crown. Martina was married off to a noble house soon after, and never returned home. In 1536, Andrin stepped down as King. The reason why he did this is largely unclear, but most believe he retired to focus on his passions, music and faith.Death
Andrin died in 1542, of natural causes. He was ill for a few months, before peacefully succombing to the illness. The rest of his family grieved for him, but his son made many big changes in his rule, often contrary to his father's views. The crown had some turbulent years after his passing, but he is remembered as the calm before the storm.Relationships
