New Thridea

One of the four warring factions on the continent of Fjallsgard, New Thridea is a mixture of the old ways of the mountain dwelling Aesvir tribes, to the ancient sea-faring "Thrideans". Their very country is named after the ancient Thritic Empire, despite having no direct claim to being successors. The culture is by and large a mixture of  the two older groups, forming a new creation in its own right.
The Land Of New Thridea
Sharing its borders with Hobsrunne and Fjallinston, New Thridea sits in between both provinces, and remains landlocked due to the jagged mountain range to its southern border, known as the "Lower Teeth". Despite it's disadvantaged positioning, Thridea's defensive capabilities allow it to funnel both it's neighbors through it's rocky, harsh terrains with ease. Most men enlisted into the New Thridic army are at home in the mountainous areas' and can employ swift countermeasures towards invasions.   Many ruins of the Old Thritic empire do dot the country, spanning many rivers that flow through towards Hobsrunne. They emulate their predecessors by settling in close proximity to the ruins, if not in them. A few cities have created entire infrastructures through the wreckage of these buildings, wood and thatch sit amongst slowly decaying stone and concrete, a hilarious contrast to what they wish to copy.   Due to their rocky and cold terrain, not many crops are grown here. The winters are brutal, and the soil is not kind to wheat and grain. The ancient Thrideans had the benefit of large supply networks to feed them, and the mountain tribes subsist off of the sparing resources they fight for. This hostile lifestyle was not uncommon for their ancestors, who arrived on these shores looking for a new land to settle, and were more than willing to fight. Roving bands of sea raiders traveled in their longships, eventually meeting resistance in the form of the Goblin peoples of the Manduco Hokai, Pas-Barse-Sar, and SarpTaeder. The Otan and Aesvir Giant tribes roamed the lands and hills, with the Fjalla people inhabited the east.   This didn't stop the pursuit, and in fact may have emboldened them, since these people had been able to not only prosper, but thrive here. The Manduco had settled themselves in the old Thritic ruins along the rivers, which were very well kept, and even repaired by their craftsmen. That did not last, however, as the desperate sailors Took to turning their boats into siege weaponry in an effort to take the walled-in cities.
Economic Necessity

Despite its lack of essential crop production, Thridea continues to endure, and even thrives to an extent, due to its relations with the artisans of Hobsrunne. Their goblin neighbors refuse trade with any other nation-states, and guard their craft secrets with a ferocity paralleled by a dwarf armorer. Throughout the violent history between the two nations, Hobsian's have come to respect their Thritic neighbors, and even associate them with their ancient counterparts. One old Heretissmic(goblinoid sect of Yog Yithal) myth tells the tale of the Primogenitor fighting a Thridean Sea Raider for 30 days and nights, and they only ceased when neither could best the other. This legend shows the profound cultural respect that the normally elitist Goblinoid races hold for them, and may be the reason why they only trade with Thritic merchants. This has created an economic bottleneck for them, as Hobsian weapons and siege engines are highly valued for their craftsmanship and quality. "Hobsian Vabens" are only sold to the outside world through New Thridea, making them the economic middleman in the transaction.
Culture

Thritic culture is an amalgamation of the Aesvir tribes of the freezing North, and the sea migrants from Eropei. Their religious beliefs favor the spirits of the woods, and honoring the beings that live in the mountains, rocks and animals that make this place home. They also worship ancient Thritic gods, the main three being Ovandir, Trygfi, and Patar. the twin brothers who guard all Thritics from misfortune, and the king of the ancient Thritean gods. The Old Thrideans also worshipped many river and sea gods, but due to them not relying on the waterways and oceans as they did, most New Thrideans worship the twins more often.
Humans comprise a large majority of the population, with the second largest group being Giants and their kin. Many generations of integration has melded the two groups into their own unique society.

Public Agenda

Carefully balancing the economic tightrope that it finds itself in, as well as establishing it's own "port city" to better receive and deliver goods.

Assets

  1. Direct trade to Hobsrunne, and it's abundance of materials and weapons
     2. Giant laborers and soldiers         3.rivers with sea route access (But without direct permission from Hobsrunne, Thridea cannot profit from such an expenditure)
