Toocrix Species in Vestra | World Anvil

Toocrix

Description and Characteristics

Large flightless birds, their feathers are usually black or grey. Their heads and necks are featherless, with the neck a deep blue and a largeish bone crest of emerald green. The beak is roughly 8in long and quite sharp.

Behavior and Intelligence.

Carnivorous and not picky, these birds are highly aggressive and territorial. They will attack anyone other than their mates.

They can be trained as mounts, but they are somewhat rare, as to do so, you must raise it from an egg. By raising multiple toocrix together, they form a flock and will often work together. Such training also takes out SOME of the aggression. As does a special berry that you must feed them once a day.

These mounts are often prized by adventurers, for two reasons. Firstly, they move quick and are quite agile, being able to climb anything short of a sheer cliff. Secondly, the toocrix can fight back as well, with both its feet and beak.
