Kyree

Appearance

They resemble wolves, but are much larger, with shoulders standing as high as a man's waist. They have broad and wolf-like heads with rounded foreheads, forward-facing eyes and enormous jaws. In description the kyree have "rather blunt, wolf-like heads and bodies like a cheetah, with tails and coats like wolves," and they live for "about as long as humans." Kyree have intelligence equal to that of humans and are Mindspeakers.

Some kyree are also born with additional Gifts and may become mages, healers or shaman. There are three sexes of kyree: males, females and neuters. As with wolves, pack life centers around the breeding males and females, and thus the neuters often are at loose ends and tend to become wanderers. Neuters frequently become historians and storytellers, carrying the chronicles of notable kyree as well as those of other races (human and non-human alike).

Average Characteristics

• Age: Kyrees life spans can reach 200 years, but most reach at least 160
• Size: 2-3ft high at the shoulder. An adult kyree often weighs 190-250lbs.
• Language: mindspeech only, they have great difficult forming words

Locations

They live in the Troraine Timberland. Often working with the Tayledras, but now that the forest is safer, kyree often have their own dens and territories.

History

In the evacuation prior to the Cataclysm, Whyril entrusted all of his created races to the Elf, Kaled’a’in believing that they would best be cared for by the elves. When the elves split over the use of magic, another council, this one only of the created races was called. Deciding in the end that they would all be of most use to the Tayledras / most able to live their own lives, they chose to stay and join the Hawkbrothers in thier dispora.
