Temple of the Wild Mother

As the goddess of nature, Melora is worshiped widely by people of the countryside and wilderness. She gives and takes depending on her mood, but when given the proper respect, she will give a great deal.
Worshipers of the Wild Mother prefer to meet in the open air rather than in a building, so conventional temples to her are rare. Her services take place at sacred groves, standing stones, meadows, or caves. Most of her followers are farmers, hunters, sailors, and fishers, but Melora is also the patron goddess of most druidic circles, as well as beastfolk, giants, and giantkin. Each have their own way of honoring her.

Tenets of Faith

  • Protect the untamed wilderness from exploitation and destruction.
  • Slay abominations and other mockeries of nature.
  • Embrace and respect the savage nature of the world. Exist in harmony with it.

Sects

  • Clerics of Melora are primarily found in rural areas, where they help to maintain the balance between agriculture and wilderness.
  • Melora's druids are more focused on the wild. They lead isolated lives in the depths of the forest, remote islands, lonely mountaintops, or far-flung desert oases. It is their mission to protect natural places from the encroachment of evil forces.
  • The Order of the Scarab is made up of clerics, druids, and a handful of rangers. They are dedicated to protecting the natural cycle of life and death; they protect burial sites and, when necessary, lay the undead back to rest. Their symbol is a beetle, because many types of beetle feed on carrion; Scarabites see scavengers like them as sacred animals for their important role in the decomposition process.
  • The Order of the Blue Rose is an organization formed by devotees of Melora and Corellon that helps mediate between the Material Plane and the Feywild. They maintain the peace with friendly fey such as satyrs and dryads, while also protecting people from more dangerous fey creatures. The blue rose is their symbol because it's an inherently magical flower that only grows near crossings to the Feywild.
  • The Boundstone Society are clergy and lay followers of Melora and Erathis who promote harmony between nature and civilization.
