Erathis
The Law-Bearer
Erathis is the goddess of civilization and all of the order and advancement it brings. As the Law-Bearer, she strives to bring law, justice, and peace to the world. She is traditionally depicted as a humanoid woman wearing armor with a hood covering her eyes, holding a two-bladed axe in one hand and a balance scale in the other. Most statues have her seated on a throne, but the shrines dedicated to her at courthouses depict her standing up, lifting the scales for all to see but holding the axe ready at her side to mete out judgement.
The Law-Bearer is the adoptive patron of halflings; the old halfling pantheon were friends of hers before the Dawn War destroyed them, and she had always appreciated halflings for living peaceful, simple lives in harmony with nature. Some say it's her protection that keeps them out of harm's way. Erathis has a passionate yet tempestuous relationship with Melora the Wild Mother. They love each other, but their differing domains sometimes put them at cross purposes.

Divine Symbols & Sigils
Erathis has two traditional symbols. One is the labrys, a short two-bladed battleaxe that represents the power of craft and civilization. The other is a balance scale, symbolizing fairness. The two are often combined into a single icon, with the scale engraved on or imposed over the axe.
Tenets of Faith
- Utilize the company and aid of others. The efforts of the individual often pale against the capabilities of the community.
- Strive to tame the wilds in the name of civilization, and defend the points of light and order against the chaos of darkness.
- Uphold and revere the spirit of invention. Create new settlements, build where inspiration strikes, and expand the edicts of the Law Bearer.
