The Qlippoth

Very few have managed to learn or comprehend the Qlippoth. The few that learn of their existence simply refer to them as the 'proto-demons'; the creatures that lurked within The Abyss far long before the demonic horde that infests it now. And yet, those unlucky few that have managed to tap into the tenebrous truth of the Qlippoth are seldom capable of ever acting the same again. Many who merely learn of their existence alone are driven mad with a revelation beyond their understanding.

Madness Incarnate

The mere revelation of these creature's existence is enough to drive most mad. For when visions of a Qlippoth horde are bestowed upon those unfortunate enough to glimpse into the void, they are swiftly overtaken by the crippling realization that all will inevitably assimilate into their being. Every scrap of flesh, whether long rotted, putrefied, or still fresh, must be reclaimed. To those that have not already ended their lives and accepted the inevitability of assimilation, the horde will simply leave them washed over in a sea of flesh, gnashing claws, and spindly legs, until flesh, bone and blood are torn and grafted into the ever-increasing horde that is the Qlippoth.   If the mere thought of these creatures is enough to make men mad, then the image alone is just the same. The sight of the creatures, at the very least, unsettles and unnerves; and while it is not their appearance that horrifies, it is the single fact that the horde inevitably grows in numbers as they feast and consume anything unfortunate enough to be caught within their twisted trail.

Harbingers of Destruction

When the horde arrives, life dies. It is to be butchered, reshaped, and re-purposed. Much like a sculptor would see clay, the Qlippoth mold and shape all flesh into their forms. The soul, body, and mind is also assimilated in this process, broken down and brought into their wretched forms. The Qlippoth seek to assimilate and consume all life, be it demon, mortal, Fae, or Oni. The Qlippoth are incapable of feeling, incapable of reasoning. Life fades at their undulating advance, and unlike most great destroyers, the flesh they leave in their wake quivers to life, shuddering and slithering behind them in their unholy march.   It is the inevitability that drives men mad. The inevitability, of becoming assimilated; not their horrific forms, but the mere realization that all will soon come to serve the Qlippoth horde in their frenzied attempts to recombine into their one, true, antediluvian self.

All must be One

The grand goal of the Qlippoth is to re-assimilate all Demon and Mortal souls into a singular amalgam of flesh. They are all controlled by a single consciousness, and it is thanks to that that they work in such an unerring unison that it is next to impossible to withstand a full horde. They seek to devour and graft as much life as they can within their hordes, so that they may one day grow and coalesce into a singular, divine being.

A Thousand Bodies, for One Mind

The Qlippoth's numbers are beyond counting, and yet, despite having many different bodies, all Qlippoth act with one mind. A single Qlippoth can be an ocean away from another, and they will still feel every last inkling of pain and sensation. When a single Qlippoth looks upon something, all Qlippoth gaze upon it. When one feeds, they all feed. Of the many disturbing things the Qlippoth have, however; is the fact that their voice is shared. The voice of the dead god that they were once all a part of. This soothing voice constantly reminds those around them that all are to inevitably become as one, to be reclaimed into the horde so that it may ascend as one penultimate being.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Shuddering and abhorrent, the Qlippoth resemble multitudes of different parts grafted haphazardly into a single mass. Multitudes of mouths and eyes are typically a telling sign of a Qlippoth.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Qlippoth 'reproduce' simply by slaughtering any living thing they come into contact with. Creatures killed by the Qlippoth are reshaped and repurposed into the bodies of whatever Qlippoth had killed them. Sometimes, a Qlippoth may reproduce by shedding chunks of flesh from itself, resulting in smaller, newly created Qlippoth.

Civilization and Culture

History

Long ago, there was an ancient entity by the name of Qlithoth. Five ancient deities desperately fought over the land of Veska; and while on the verge of defeat, Qlithoth had chosen to sunder and hack himself to pieces. Yet, when his flesh began to deteriorate, from the thickened ichor of his oily blood rolled life. These undulating creatures later became the abhorrent Qlippoth, whom named themselves after his likeness. Carrying his will, the Qlippoth started with the goal to harvest and gather as much as they could, so that they may re-assimilate into the singular being once more. In these efforts to become one, the Qlippoth had eventually created the first of Demons   At first, Demons were essentially, efficient cattle. They were made from mortal souls, and while immortal, they still served well as slaves. Those that were injured or lost their ability to function could simply be re-assimilated into the Qlippoth horde.   One day, the Demons had chosen to revolt against the Qlippoth, and despite their vast and incomprehensible power, the demonic slaves had quickly outnumbered the Qlippoth, driving them back into the deepest corners of Gehenna. Now, the Qlippoth bide their times, seeking ways to bolster the horde so that they may once more continue their goal of reconverting into Qlithoth.
