Khaela'zun, the Chained Ruiner

Khaela'zun, her true name forever lost, is known as the Chained Ruiner or the Ruiner, and is one of two deities who did not arrive upon Verridia with the others; instead ascending through manipulation of the Weave. Khaela'zun unlocked the secrets of a dark ritual, and using a focus of immense power, changed the nature of death. Prior to her vile machinations, the souls of those to died upon the mortal realm would pass into the fugue plane and await judgement. Instead, she altered the very fabric of death so that the souls of the fallen imbued her with divine power. As more and more souls funneled into she would become Khaela'zun, the mortal woman enacted another black ritual and challenged the Lord over Death, easily defeating him in a weakened state, and thus ascended to godhood.   As gods and their creations warred across Verridia, billions died and hundreds of millions of souls were gorged upon by Kaela, her wrath tearing across the surface of the once beautiful paradise, now war torn and blackened. With each soul consumed, she grew more powerful and uncontrollable, able to snuff out the divine spark from many of the lesser gods of the pantheon. Even the betrayers who sided with her against Asuryond shied from her uncontrolled fury.   When the weave collapsed on itself, removing all magic from Verridia, there was a moment, a spit second before the storm, when a mortal dared stand against the raging titan-god. The mortal spoke words of power, sundering the god of Death, and siphoned off a majority of the raw energies that coursed throughout her. A mortal, for the second time ever, ascended to godhood; while the Chained Ruin was torn apart by the millions of souls writhing within her. She was reduced to an abominous mass of teeth, writhing tentacles and bursting pustules; a barely sentient harbinger of destruction, still capable of unfathomable destruction.   After the Divine War came to an end, the Chained Ruin was sealed away, behind the Divine Gate, only a select few knowing where. The remaining Creators enacted laws to forbid ascension, and erased all knowledge of the previously used rituals from existence.
