Barrier

A bread-and-butter spell for Dark Tribe Psions, This effect is a versatile tool that can be used defensively or for crowd control, but requires concentration to maintain and can be easily overwhelmed with heavy ordinance or psionic attacks. Traditionally, Dark Tribe psions would cast this spell in tandem, forming large walls out of many smaller shields.

Manifestation

The barrier created by this spell is translucent and hard, like a pane of stained glass. Once shattered, the barrier dissipates into flecks of light. A creature that touches the barrier may get a harmless, but painful, static shock.

Barrier

2-level Abjuration

Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: 30ft
Components: Somatic
Duration: Concentration, 1 minute
A translucent barrier of force with an armor class of 15 and 1d8+10 hit points springs into existence within range. The barrier can be a wall up to 10 feet wide, 5 feet tall, and 1/4 inch thick, or a bubble up to 5 feet in diameter and 1/4 inch thick. The barrier has immunity to psychic and poison damage. Any creature that would be trapped within the barrier may make a dexterity saving throw; on a success, they may move up to five feet to avoid being trapped. Any character standing halfway through the barrier when the spell is cast is pushed to one side, which the caster chooses. The barrier prevents any objects or creatures from moving through it. Any character completely hidden behind the barrier has total cover from attacks coming from outside the barrier, and and vice versa. Once the barrier is reduced to zero hit points, it dissipates into flecks of light and the spell ends.
At higher levels: If you use a spell slot above 2nd level to cast this spell, the barrier has 6 additional hit points for every slot level above 2nd.
Available for: Sorcerer, Artificer

I presume that this barrier is kind of like a force barrier. Do you feel a hard physical contact when when hitting it or is it soft?

Perhaps I should put this in the article above; It feels and cracks like smooth stone or glass; you also might get a mild static shock from touching it, depending on the caster.

Oh, and maybe you missed the block at the bottom that sorts out all the technical aspects?

Why I was asking is because I found another use of it. But I see that you fixed it :D You had written that it could be any shape. So if it is hard on touch and can be any shape then it can be shaped as a spear or spiked wall, etc and used to deal damage ;)

Ah! perhaps the 5e spell "Spike growth" will do what you're thinking of. Just needs a bit of flavor...

FINALLY got around to actually looking at this. My bad. I really enjoyed the description of dark scions actually using the spell I random. I love seeing magic used on a larger scale, like a battlefield. Very nice. This explains hard light well.
