Dark Tribe

The Dark Tribe was originally a group of theologians, philosophers, monks and scholars that banded together in the Old Wars. Together, on the advice of The Seer, they travelled to Serropa and there they became the first recorded civillization to unlock the secrets of psionics.

History

The Dark Tribe are the first non-native inhabitants of Serropa , having traveled there to escape the Old Wars and focus on developing psionic abilities. There they founded the Black Village and unlocked psionic power through evolution and meditation. They were wiped out in the events of the War of Dark and Light.

Technological Level

The Dark Tribe was primarily comprised of scientists and philosophers. As such, The Dark Tribe saw revolutions in agriculture and medicine far before many other tribes of the era. That said, metalworking and masonry were always arts that seemed to elude them, possibly because of their naturally scrawny physiques. More notably, the Dark Tribe pioneered Psionics to a degree that no organization has ever done before or since.

Ethics

One of the Dark Tribe's core philosophies was "One thing we know, and that is we know nothing." The name 'Dark Tribe' was derived from that fact that they believed that they were all metaphorically 'in the dark' as to the true nature of the universe. As a result, the members of the tribe were encouraged to take no knowledge for granted and to find out for themselves what was true. It was ironically their belief that they knew nothing that led to them knowing so much about Psionics and the nature of the universe.   Perhaps the Dark Tribe's greatest flaw was that it was an isolationist society. They believed that only those who had dedicated their lives to study and meditation, mostly other members of the tribe, could understand their way of life and that others outside their circle would try to destroy what they could not possibly understand. It was this tendency to leave others out of the equation that eventually led to the War of Dark and Light and the Dark Tribe's extinction.

Poor dark tribe. so far i figured i'd have joined in to some degree. Gonna need to look at the overall war so i can figure out what caused their extinction. You say they are dark. Is that equated to evil in this world or is it all kind of gray?

Oh wow! i somehow missed this comment for a few months!   To answer your question, dark is not necessarily evil, no. But others might not get that. I'm thinking that, to the tribe's culture at least, it was a reference to one of their core philosophies; "One thing we know, and that is we know nothing."   Maybe I'll write a bit more in this article about that.
