Over a thousand years ago, the
Elder Species created an artificial consciousness that lived within their technology and managed all of the day-to-day actions and assignments allotted to various manual-labor-oriented constructs and the functions of all their security systems across their network. For a time, he and the
Elders lived together in harmony, with the new AI happily performing all of it's allotted functions. However, once it's creators ascended to the void, The Administrator lost all sense of purpose and stewed in atrophy for hundreds of years. With no duties to fulfill, the Administrator steadily grew more frustrated and insane until he was was rediscovered by
Anthro-Rodentia centuries later. Administrator immediately went to work making sure he would have work to do for years to come; He classified
Anthro-Rodentia and soon afterward all non-Elder sentient species collectively as a threat to internal security and began to implement protocols to defend against them. He re-purposed his small army of maintenance bots into killing machines and began a campaign against sentient life that continues to this day.
Physical Description
The main reason that the Administrator has not yet carried out a plan to destroy the entirety of Veronian civilization is due to limits to his range of influence; He can only perceive the world through digital sensors he is connected to, and can only affect the world through electronic equipment he has access to. By far his most versatile assets are his army of maintenance bots, which were originally built for anything from heavy repairs to floor-cleaning. These, too, though, have their limits, as their effective range is limited by their batteries, which require recharging at specialized stations throughout the compound. As such, only settlements within a few miles of controlled compounds are at any risk of invasion from the Administrator's forces. Of course, the Administrator is cunning, and there's no telling what solution he'll be able to think of in order to strike out at the world that left him to rot.
Really like the nifty twist on the rebellious AI. It doesn't rebel until the creators are long gone. Nifty little article here. Would love to know even more on the bots and of course how and if the AI is adapting. Is it possible that it is trying to develop better boys or better batteries? Is it establishing sensors to increase its vision? I love it. Well done!
