High King Reginald DeWitt III, leader of the Veridian Empire was assassinated inside the palace of Bastion's Keep. The assassin was thought to be affiliated with an Alvarian Supremacist faction.

High King Reginald DeWitt III of the Veridian Empire was assassinated on this day. The assassination took place only a few days after an assault by the Haagstad Pact on Felwinter, though it was discovered to be unrelated. What was actually revealed, was that the assassin was associated with an Alvarian supremacist faction. This event caused even higher tensions between the Empire and the Alvarian Confederacy and eventually led to war.    The throne of the Empire was succeeded by the son of Reginald III, Christopher DeWitt III
