Gronndalheim

The dwergish kingdom of Gronndalheim spans across the hills and valleys of the Tholgari highlands. Villages are made up of stone cottages and community feasting halls, where the clans gather for nightly celebrations.

Structure

The clans of Gronndalheim each control their own territory within the kingdom. Each clan is ruled by an elder, who is normally the eldest living member of the clan. These elders answer to the high king. The high king is chosen by the council of elders to rule over the kingdom of Gronndalheim. Normally the one chosen to be king is the eldest son of the previous king, however if no heir exists or if the council believes that the heir is unfit to rule, another may be chosen. Normally the eldest son of one of the elders.

Public Agenda

The hill dwerg of Gronndalheim only wish to live in peace. This wish is unfortunately not shared by the neighboring kingdom of Urgreborg, and the constant threat of giants, orcs and goblinoids.

Assets

Every clan has a fortress as the central point of their village. This is so in case of attack, the population can flee to safety while the warriors face the threat.

Military

For the people of Gronndalheim, combat is simply a part of life. Both men and women are trained in the use of weapons and armor from a young age, so that they can defend themself and their homes from invaders. There are a select few however who take the defence of their people a step farther, some would say to the extreme. These warriors are known as the battle ragers. A battle rager takes an oath to defend their clan and kingdom at the expense of themself. In battle they are the first ones in and the last ones out. They charge into battle with wild abandon often causing the enemy force to flee from sheer terror. Battle ragers favor melee weapons, only using a single volley of javelin before a charge. They never wear armor and are clothed only with a kilt to display the colors of their clan. Upon taking the oath of a battle rager, one must shave their head. From that point on they must keep their hair shaved except for their Mohawk which must never be cut. The length of a battle rager's Mohawk denotes their experience and all though they do not have an official ranking system, a troop of battle ragers will always differ leadership to the one with the longest hair.

Education

It is the duty of the clan elders to teach the younger generations. They do this by gathering around public spaces to tell stories of their ancestors.
