Northern Aetrus

Aetrus is a vast continent, the largest in the world. It is home to many different races and cultures. Many of the kingdoms here trade openly not only with each other, but also with people from far away lands. because of this the Aetrian people are natural polyglots and diplomats.   Polyglot: In addition to the languages they learn from their race and background choice, a character from Aetrus knows one language of their choice.   Tycoon: The Aetrian people are skilled traders. They gain proficiency with the persuasion skill and gain advantage on persuasion checks when attempting to barter.

Major language groups and dialects

The common tongue is wide spread among the people of Aetrus. In addition many scholars study an ancient dialect known as Kelniron which seems to be a combination of common, celestial, and draconic.

Average technological level

Craftsmen from Aetrus have perfected the art of metallurgy. Armor and weapons are made from nothing less than pure Aetrian steel, and some blacksmiths are known for works involving more exotic metals such as mithril and adamantium.

Common Etiquette rules

The people of Aetrus are well spoken and polite. when speaking to one another it is considered good manners to make direct eye contact. When conducting business one must always shake hands at its conclusion. to refuse to do so is seen as a great insult.

Common Dress code

There are two forms of dress among the people of Aetrus, common and noble.   The merchants and common folk prefer to wear practical clothing, nothing too fancy that would attract thieves or get in the way while they work. This is usualy comprised of a simple tunic and britches, with a heavy cloak in cold climates.   Wealthy merchants and nobility tend to wear fancy doublets and jerkins for the men, while women often wear fine gowns. They often wear expensive jewelry to accent their outfits.

Art & Architecture

The type of art that is most well known from Aetrus are portraits and sculptures of gods and ancient kings. One such art work is the massive Statue known as "The Radiant One" which depicts an artists rendition of the god Solorin standing tall with his hands held high towards the sun.

Funerary and Memorial customs

It is common place to bury the dead, with every settlement having some form of cemetery. Wealthy families often purchase plots of land to build elaborate crypts to house their departed loved ones.

Common Taboos

Magic is not a common sight on Aetrus. While it is not outlawed, it is often viewed with fear and superstition among the common people.
