Airship

Airships are the youngest of all types of vehicles used in Veneficia. They were invented only 20 years by a tarranoi inventor. The ships use an engine powered by a fire-activated fire crystal which transformation was blocked by a magic user. The high price of fire crystals makes airships also very expensive and now there are only few of them in the world. The most known one is the King's Airship in the service of the King of Tarra.

Power Generation

Airships are powered by an engine located in the lower decks near the stern of the ship. The engine is divided into two main parts. The first is a chamber in which the fire crystal is stored and the other is where the crystal's energy is stored before being distributed to rest of the ship through metal pipes.

Propulsion

Airships use the energy from their fire crystal to fly. Below the ship there are 4 massive thrusters that are used to push the ship into the air. When it is on a desired height, the thrusters are turned off and two rear thrusters are activated.

While take off can be done vertically, landing can't be. To land ship must gradually get down as it approached the landing point. When it is at the right height, it has to slowly loose speed until it can stopped at the desired spot.

Sails

Most airships have masts and sails as well as wings made of linen on the sides. The masts are mostly decorative elements inherited from seafaring tradition. The wings can be used to aid gliding when the engine is not working.
