Moradin Forges the Dwarves

The God Moradin Forges the Dwarves from the earth.

Moradin drew the deep aarths and pure metals from the mountains of Koria and Eltar and forged the first Dwarves into being. His creations wandered soulless and empty for some time, and Darkness found its way into the hearts of some. Moradin then blew and cooled them, and in doing so gave to each a soul and bestowed thought and life into them. Those claimed by Darkness began to quarrel and fight amongst the others. Moradin then blew on his creations to cool them, and those touched by Darkness quailed beneath the blast of his breath. Those who stood tall were given dominion over the mountains and hills of the world. Those who quailed where swept aside like so much slag and returned to the depths of the world.
