The Gray Road Walkers

Oh ye Wanderer, take care 'en should ye find thy self 'pon the Gray Road. 'Tis more that a spirit of wraith to be feared in the Land o' the Mist. Dark be day, and pitch be night, an' a'ways mist be clouding ye sight. If ye find ye'self 'pon that Gray Road, hope to ya Gods that the Gray Walkers find ye a'for the things that dwell within the mist do.

Structure

The Gray Road Walkers have no true organizational structure. All members are of an equal rank, and they can go months to years between seeing another of their kind.

Public Agenda

The Gray Walkers are not wildly known, due to the facts they spend most of their time in the Ethereal Plane. Those that do know of them hold them to a strong force for balance, rather than good or evil.

History

The Gray Road Walkers were created by the first of the Dreamborn Hagspawn to cross into the Ethereal Plane proper. Seeing the dangers within the plane itself for those unaccustomed to it, the small group decided to dedicate themselves to safeguarding the spirits who walk among the mists, drive back the evil spirits that dwell in the plane, and set up refuges throughout to allow for a safe resting place for any living being who wanders unknowing or unready into the Land of Mists. However, not all the living who make it to the Land of Mists are protected as such. If someone attempts to twist the magics of the plane to their own needs, or capture the spirits that dwell there in, The Mist Brothers are exacting and precise in their removal of such a being.
After encountering the Gate of the Dead, and the being who guard its entry, the Gray Walkers struck an accord with those who follow the afterlife ways of The Torrezon Pantheon, and agreed to help protect any spirits of their religion that they find lost in the mist.
As their numbers ever so slowly grew, the Gray Walkers began to venture more often into the Material Plane, setting up sanctified places for Ghosts and good spirits to dwell, safe from the machinations of evil mages and other vengeful spirits.
