Ascension

Ascension occurs when one or more Entities, (Demon Lords, Gods, Primordials of extreme power etc), are severely wounded or have their physical bodies killed. The energy released by their fall is let loose in a massive wave of destruction that usually reduces the area around them for miles to a torn wasteland, but occasionally, one or more beings of significant power can unintentionally absorb their power, becoming what is known as an Ascendant.

Transmission & Vectors

The release of power caused by the death of a Deity of supreme power, ie a God.

Symptoms

The first symptoms the newly Ascended experience is severe headaches, which can include vivid visions of events from the Deities past. In many cases these will prove fatal, causing the brain to hemorrhage, the Ascendant to tear out their own eyes in an attempt to remove the scenes from their minds, and insanity.
Those that do survive progress to the second stage as their new power settles within their mortal form, increasing their physical or mental aspects to help contain itself. Great strength and massive intelligence are the most common examples or this. This state is however, still dangerous, as the power coursing through the mortals body can still implode from within. This can manifest from something as simple as the Ascendant slowly losing control of their body until, unable to breath, they suffocate to death, to outlandish claims of Ascendants' bodies burning from the inside out, growing massive pustule growths, and even physical transformations into grotesque aberrations.
