Godfather's Stiletto

Written by World Smithy

A Hidden Favorite

The stiletto, as a weapon, has long been favored ever since there has been a need to conceal a weapon. A stiletto dagger features a slender, long, and sharply pointed blade primarily designed for stabbing. Often times, to reduce weight, a fuller will run from the base of the blade to a certain length of its spine. Its thin profile allows for easy penetration through tough leathers and chain mail, making it a weapon favored for precise and stealthy strikes. The handles of this type of blade are typically ornate and intricately designed, leading many Godfathers that run their operations in the wastelands of Vasara to enjoy embellishing theirs with gemstones and precious metals.

History

Don Vittore of the Serrato Family is a businessman, first and foremost. Unfortunantly, not everyone is on the same page, and so some form of personal "protection" is necessary in his line of work. You see, the goods that flow between the Elysian Bastions find themselves needing to be shipped safely, right? Well, for a modest fee, the Serrato Family is more than happy to fill the need to move goods in a timely manner across the cursed lands of Vasara. Now, some folks just don't understand, and want to try and undercut the Don to take a share of the market. Those that try, it seems, are always found with a few extra holes where there shouldn't be any.

This particular stiletto, commissioned by Don Serrato himself, is currently being held as evidence by the authorities in Jaddregos for the murder of one Marcus Reinna. It is still unclear whether there is a direct link between the two men, and the investigators manning the case have yet to be able to pin a motive for the murder of Reinna.

Significance

This particular stiletto is known to strike fear into those that see it. Its rumored that the only time Don Serrato's blade ever sees light is right before it finds itself plunging into some unfortunate soul's neck... and when it is being cleaned.
Pictured above is Don Vittore Serrato's personal stiletto, thought to have been used in several (unsolved) murders.

While it has never been revealed what the dagger was constructed from, it is widely thought that the blade is pure silver and that the handle is pure gold. Inlaid into the blade itself is gold filigree that wraps around an opal on either side of the weapon.
