Clock Tower Arm

Report - Findings in the Crashed Aetherwen

Start log.
Professor Harrow, signing in from The Gloom covered Aetherwen* due approximately fourty miles South East of the Shademarsh. The current date is the 24th of Iviht, 1961 After Lightfall. We should really give this place a name or... I don't know, find what it was called already? These long winded introductions are going to be the end of me - but, I digress.

The adventuring party that The Enlightened Board contracted to aid us have been doing wonders. As of the writing of this report, they have successfully pushed back waves of Silhouettes that have rushed the camp periodically. Thanks to their protection, those in charge of excavating this ruin have found a curious artifact - curious in the sense that is a component from a much larger structure not found anywhere in this ruin thus far.

The research team on site believes that the artifact used to be an arm for a massive clock face. It certainly looks it too, being a long, relatively slender piece of darkened steel with an odd spade-like shape at the end of it. The arm itself seems to have once boasted ornate scrawlings along its length, long weathered in the march of time. Aside from that, the tail end of this expedition to the wastes has been fruitless. As I requested after the previous outting, we need more manpower, more funding, and a bit more respect by those on the board in order to achieve results.
*Aetherwens were the large, magic fueled, flying cities that dominated the skies above Vasara during the Thaumition Era. The term stems from the word Aether, which refers to the sky above the clouds, and Wen, another term for an overcrowded city.   End Log.

History

The history of the Aetherwens and everything that resided within them have been lost to time, long since buried in The Gloom and earth since their destruction in the Schism. Efforts are currently underway by both The Wissan Dominion and The Luminforge Syndicate to excavate these fallen ruins for any salvageable knowledge, materials, or relics that may shed additional light on what exactly occured almost two thousand years ago.

The clock's arm that was recovered has since been returned to Eo' Wissae, and is thoroughly being examined and studied by various scholars. A sample of it was returned to the artificers of Stahlrest for them to examine in the hopes of creating a material that is as durable as the clock arm.

Significance

The recovery of the clock arm proves that there are still things that are able to be recovered from the long-fallen Aetherwens, and has since increased funding to the expeditions that have been braving them.
