Aggression, hunger, and physical distortion of the body
Treatment
The condition can be controlled to some extent. Refraining from using magic and eating enough to restore energy can allow victims to live a normal life if treated in the early stages. It's possible to have the condition reversed by the gods if they are feeling generous.
Prognosis
- It starts by distorting the mind, causing the victim to perceive others and surroundings differently. Often expressed as aggression.
- An insatiable hunger creeps up as the body desperately tries to restore the missing energy
- The body twists, mutations becoming more severe as the condition progresses
- Eventually the victim becomes a Fthorskotos
Affected Groups
While anyone can be afflicted with it. Those more magically inclined are more likely to die from it.
Prevention
Consumption of necessary amounts of food and self control usually prevents it.
Epidemiology
During battles, the continuous use of high energy attacks can lead to large groups of participants succumbing to twist. The symptoms may occur immediately or some years later.
History
After a major conflict in Trenzar victims, who gained control of their condition, founded Ekkentros on the Twisted Plains. Creations made in that community have physical mutations, but are considered completely healthy.
Cultural Reception
Those suffering from twist are viewed as dangerous and often driven out into the wilds.
