Olivia Cel Tradat, Lady of the Crimson Court. Character in Vanigraad | World Anvil

Olivia Cel Tradat, Lady of the Crimson Court.

"I've dreamt of this night since I was a girl. Finally, after so many years I will have everything I deserve. Tonight, we celebrate not a blushing bride, but a Queen! Raises your glasses to the reign of the Eternal Night. To me!" ~ Olivia Cel Tradat   Born to Lucilla and Riskel Cel Tradat, Olivia was the only daughter of the Cel Tradat family. Indeed she was their only child, not for lack of effort on her parents part. Being the only child however, Olivia was doted upon by her parents and her childhood was not particularly difficult. The Cel Tradat manor in the Volashka Expanse, a minor mountain range in the northern region of Wallachia, had everything a young noble girl could want. But as she grew into her teen years the company of her tutors and her Ladies in Waiting were not enough. She yearned for the company of others her own age that weren't attentive to her simply because she was a noble. Olivia began sneaking out of the manor grounds to venture down the mountain into Volkirk, over which her parents ruled. She spent time among the merchants, the street kids, and the guards under her parent's employ. It was here she learned of the goings on of the First Age and conflicts between other kingdoms and Averheim, to which Wallachia was a part.   During these trips Olivia also learned from traveling mages and students of the Grand Magic Colleges. Building her competency in the arcane, which she took to like wildfire. She devoured any knowledge she could find on spells and the nature of the Ley Lines that cross beneath Vanigraad and Teldaria as a whole. As she grew, she began practicing in the privacy of the Cel Tradat estate and took a heavy interest in the art of Necromancy. A school of magic that, while not expressly forbidden by the crown, wasn't something that was openly practiced within the Empire. It began slowly, with simple spells to reanimate the remains of animals that were killed by wolves, but grew steadily into the creation of creatures of Olivia's own design.   As the First Age was coming to a close and the Planar Confluence drew closer, the Cel Tradat estate received a visitor. A man from across the sea, her mother said. He was an older man, but not unattractive to the young Cel Tradat heiress. In her early twenties now, Olivia was being pressured to find a suitable husband. Though she had turned down many suitors that came before her. All of whom she viewed as unworthy to stand by her side, until Lord Renwick. Proud and confident, Olivia was immediately enthralled by this unknown man who would come to their manor grounds often. During his visits, Olivia would spend as much time in his company as she could. Learning about his drive and his passion for power. She learned of his extensive connections to the noble houses across the Laurentian Sea in Iolan, and strove to impress him with her knowledge her magic. He was especially curious about her penchant of necromancy, often bringing her cadavers to practice on. Insisting that her parents need not know of her talents.   It was during one of Lord Renwick's visits that the Cel Tradats were mysteriously killed. Their deaths rocking Wallachia and its stability, their responsibilities to the region would fall squarely on Olivia's shoulders who would follow the council of Lord Renwick and shut the region off to the rest of Vanigraad just as the Planar Confluence and the tides of Chaos began sweeping across the continent. Though this ensured the safety of the region from monsters, it was around this time that strange disappearances began. It would start slowly at first, girls mysteriously vanishing from their beds. Guardsmen abandoning their watches as the nights grew ever longer. Mummers of unease began to spread as the Cel Tradat heiress all but stopped public appearances and more strict curfews began to be implemented by entirely unfamiliar members of, at the time, the King's Guard. To add to this, shadows began to be seen crossing he rooftops and the night skies above Wallachia. Screams echoing through the long nights as people began barring their windows and doors. Fearing for their safety in the face of unknown terrors.
The years progressed, and the nights became ever longer. Eventually the welcoming dawn of Kirana's light ceased altogether. Whispers began spread of Olivia's fall to vamprisim at the hands of Lord Renwick. The citizens of Wallachia now living in fear of the kidnappings and the Nights of Blood when Olivia would once again emerge from the Cel Tradat manor in the mountains. No longer the curious young girl they used to adore. But the Lady of the ever growing Crimson Court her lips stained red from the sanguine ichor now filling her crystalline goblet. Her hunger unending and her reign cruel.
