Mortals

Origins

Generally the everyday, average, run-of-the-mill homo sapiens. Most go through their lives unknowing of the dangers presented by the darkness in the world they inhabit. Some, however, meet that darkness and they fall into four general categories. Not all meet what is described within these groups but some do.

The Ignorant

Those that stumble their way into a hunter pursuing a vampire, a witch casting magic, or even a vampire during a feeding and pretend nothing happened fall into this category. These are the ones that know beyond a shadow of a doubt what goes on behind the facade of the world and they pretend they cannot see it.
They think pretending is safer but that is far from the truth.

The Sympathizers

Humans within with category can follow many allegiances. They can be victims of a vampire attack and summarily sympathize with the hunters. Or they can nearly be a victim of a bloodthirsty hunter's blade and end up sympathizing with the vampire that was the hunter's real target that saved their life. It's all a matter of perspective.
Relatives of vampires and bitten wolfkin that know and accept the fate of their new kin also fall under this category.
Sympathizers generally don't fight but they will give what aid they can or shelter if possible.

The Amateur Hunters

Victims of vampire attacks may turn to the course of hunting them, earning scorn from Clan-born or adopted hunters unless they prove themselves worthy of respect. Many of those that hunt wolfkin are purely human hunters, former animal hunters who have discovered 'bigger game' or victims of attacks by rogue or mad wolfkin who take out their anger on generally innocent victims just as they were.
There are also a few souls who hunt not only witches - generally religious fanatics who have discovered the truth - but also a few that hunt hunters. Sometimes it is because of a vampire relative slain before them for no reason but more often it is the same excuse as many wolfkin hunters: 'bigger game'.

The Obsessive

A rare breed of human and one category that only a few fall into. These are those that have let literature and the media twist their view of vampires into something that they are not. They imagine many male vampires as some suave, debonair rogue who will sweep them off of their feet and Turn them in midst of wild, blood-filled sex. And many female vampires are imagined as temptresses and succubi-like in tendencies to use and drain men and women like straws. They envision vampires being offered blood wherever they turn and the willing lining up for a taste of immortality.
The obsessive don't want to hear that most vampires would rather kill them than Turn them and while the suave rogue may exist, he tends to be an asshole. That temptress is more often than not nothing more then a regular woman - if perhaps a little more likely to tear out a throat or two if she's angry - and sex between vampires and humans that involves blood tend to turn out with the human dead.
And any vampire that has been around for a century or two will tell you that they have more often been met with torches and swords than any maiden baring her lovely little throat for a bite.
