Atticus Nightshade
Discoverer of the sensing sigil, master of fire magic, and inventor of thousands of incredible items is an impressive collection of titles, but they all belong to one famous person: Atticus Nightshade.
He was a curious man, always interested in how the world worked. This curiosity lead him to tinkering with different kinds of magic more than he probably should have.
After years of research, he managed to discover the beginnings of Sigil Magic, an art of magic that had been lost for centuries in Valyria. These sigils specifically activated when applied to skin, changing color and pattern to match the user's magic type.
This sigil was made into simple sheets of paper that, when applied to a person's skin with water, would stick and activate its effect. Due to this, it overtook Magic Sensors(People who's job it was to sense mana and tell people their magic types) in their entirety. He was also an avid inventor, often tinkering anything he got his hands on. This led to him creating a ton of different devices that were powered by magic, from clocks to screens to lights. These devices caught on almost immediately, and soon Atticus was famous for his many inventions.
By the time he was 50, he had created so many more useful creations that to this day he is still known as Valyria's best inventor. He died a few months after retiring, apparently from purely natural causes (Though whether that is true or not is unknown). He passed down his legacy to his daughter Emily Nightshade, who has been keeping the company going stable until the modern day.
