Kingdom of Valencia
A powerful Kingdom in Southwestern Kresic that is consistently trying to be on the bleeding edge of technological innovation. They are border by buffer states to the East, which protect it from the Goblin tribes and the Kingdom of Tregon to the North. The main problem of the Kingdom is a lack of metals, which are needed for many of their technological innovations.
Structure
The King is the ruler of Valencia and rules the land through a system of nobles and local councils. Valencia also has a parliament, which hands power to the king in times of war.
Public Agenda
The goals of Valencia is to continue progress and sees the neighboring Kingdom of Tregon as a threat to their progress.
Assets
Valencia is located in the southeastern plains of Valon, which hosts a number of rivers. Along the eastern coast of the Valencian territory is the Nictorn Forest, which provides most of the lumber for the kingdom. In the North Eastern reaches of the continent is the edge of the Kalencian mountain range, where Valencia has tried to establish mining settlements for gold and silver. Valencia also uses the neighboring states to the East as buffers with the Goblin tribes and tributary states.
History
Valencia was originally a city-state alongside Valonan lake in the plains of Valon. Near the end of the Epoch of Darkness, Valencia began establishing other settlements and contacts along Valonan lake and the Maro River, which came from the lake. As the Thalonan Empire grew in the East at the beginning of the Epoch of Nemic, the Valencians began to claim territories to the West in order to deter the Thalonan Empire. Valencia would consistently fight wars with the Thalonan Empire till its fall during the Zalonian Invasion. Valencia would eventually join the alliance against the Zalonians after the collapse of the Thalonan empire and near fall of Tregon. However, about 4 years after the Zalonian threat was gone the rise of Goblin tribes lead to the collapse of alliances formed during the invasion, allowing the Valencians to spread their influence further West. Wars with Tregon and colonies in the Kalencian mountains would become the primary ways for the Kingdom to attempt to gain new resources over the next several centuries.
Foreign Relations
Tregon Imperium- Most of Valencia's Northern border is shared with the Tregon Imperium. The two nations have been at war numerous times since the Zalonian Invasion, resulting in tumultuous tensions between the two nations. Recently, Tregon has been attempting to steal Valencian technologies that have given Valencia the advantage in recent conflicts.
Kingdom of Zelfmordenar- The kingdom only borders Valencia on the Southeast portion of the kingdom through a Zelfian enclave. The two nations have generally friendly relations, which only become rhetorically tenuous when Valencia questions the Zelfian tradition of King Suicide. Direct conflict between the two has been prevented through the existence of multiple buffer states.
