High Tower
Legends speak of an ancient tower of bleached, white stone which soars to an impossible height hidden deep within the Blighted Waste. Once home to an order of elven wizards, it has long since been abandoned. Rising nearly five hundred feet into the sky it is frequently struck by the lightning that plagues the region. Treasure hunters are drawn to the High Tower as it is said to be a repository of ancient knowledge and magical artifacts.
Purpose / Function
The tower was built by the archmage Llyndral one of the founders of the Kingdom of Syndrallen. It was here that she founded an order of wizards she called the Dawn Mages, so named because she wished to herald the rebirth of civilization after the fall of Aloria. The tower became a center for magical training and research and the Dawn Mages were renowned throughout the kingdom. The tower contained an impressive library of not only magical lore but also of Alorian knowledge as well.
Alterations
The archmage Llyndral was a master conjurer and over the years she made many magical changes to the tower. What was actually done to the place is now a matter of conjecture as the details have been lost through the centuries. Legends tell of vast chambers in the tower far larger than the physical size of the tower on the material plane. This has led some historians to speculate that if one could gain access to the tower, they might find elves still living within in some extra-dimensional space, but this is only conjecture.
Architecture
The tower is constructed of smooth, white, marble with a large round base that tapers slowly as it rises into the sky. As with most elven architecture, the tower appears to flow up from the ground, more a part of the landscape than something that was thrust upon it. There are no visible entrances or windows on the lower levels of the tower so it is unknown how the ancient elves entered and left the structure. The windows on the upper floors are outlined with faded, red stones of exquisite craftsmanship. The top of the tower, which is often not visible from the ground due to the cloudlike-mist that clings to it, is crowned with crenellations of the same faded red stones.
More awe-inspiring are what can only be described as three large islands of rock that orbit the top of the tower defying gravity itself. They float in mid-air moving clockwise about the tower in a perpetual dance. Each island has a small tower on it of the same design as the main tower, that look to have been severely damaged over the years.
