Anteus
From nearly-barren sands to lush jungle, and from wealthy aristocrats to their servants, Anteus is a land of contrasts. Though they have perhaps the most contentious relations with the other countries once under the Raithar Empire's rule, their military might and the reliance on their exports ensure that war is unlikely... unless they undertake it themselves.
Structure
Anteus is ruled by a King and his extensive family. Any regional governor or highly-ranked general not originally from the royal family is promptly married into it.
Assets
The Anteian Guard is considered to be the strongest military force since the fall of Raithar. They overshadow the other countries both in size and training; only the Valorian Knights can match their reputation for skill and loyalty.
Their exports range from highly-desired luxury goods to everyday staples, including paper, silk, spices, and dyes. They are also increasingly a source of cultural exports, such as poetry and other literature. This caught on first in Shaodan, but the well-educated in Valor are now taking it up as well.
Demography and Population
Religion
Anteians worship spirits, but the religion is markedly different from Raithar's. The largest schism began even before the fall of the Empire, and helped (along with social tension) to ensure that inhabitants of this area, and sphinx everywhere, sided against the Empire. This schism rests on classification of spirits as being 'Greater' or 'Lesser,' depending on the importance of their physical manifestation.
Thus, Anteians consider spirits such as the Ocean, the Desert, and the Night to be Greater Spirits, which are attended by their servants, the Lesser spirits, such as rivers, Windstorm, and the many stars. The spirit of the Sun rules the others, as much as spirits can be ruled, with the watchful guidance of her consort, the Moon.
