Commission Hunter

Those that tackle what most dare not.

A profession coveted by thousands, being a Commission Hunter means being just one step away from fame, fortune, and renown. Engaging in "Hunts" that are befitting of their sills/aptitude, these individuals put themselves into danger willingly for the safety of the settlements they protect and for chance to be improve their own ranking. For those that are extremely skilled, the The Hunters Commission makes special request of hunters to do go on extremely dangerous "Hunts" or investigations for the Guild that are only revealed to the public after they have been successfully fulfilled. Many Hunters spend their time carousing amongst the populace or studying so that they are always prepared should the Guild call on them at any time. Others take advantage of the renown and ranking they to obtain to enjoy a higher standard of living and interactions the those of a higher class.

Qualifications

In order to join the ranks of the guild and take on quest that are sponsored, an individual must first register with the The Hunters Commission. Once registration has been completed, the fledgling hunter is assessed for their physical/mental capabilities to determine it they need to be sent to the training school that is in the Citadel of the Hunter Commission. If it is not needed, they are provided their Guild Card and ranking based on their personal skills so that they may start undertake quest. The guild requires dues of 5 Gold gilding a month or at least one completed hunt per month to maintain active status.

Career Progression

A member of The Hunters Commission gains renown typically when they complete dangerous hunts, discover new information about creatures, or prevent something from disrupting nature's balance, such as poachers. By gaining renown as a member of the guild, you can advance your hunter rank within the it. Promotion through the ranks requires the approval of the Guild-Master the Hunter is stationed is under. Advancement is a reward for services rendered to the guild, rather than an automatic consequence of increased renown.

HR 1 - 3
Prerequisite: Renown 1 or higher in the Guild | 1st level of higher
Having completed your first dangerous hunt, the guild recognizes you as a true hunter. Your rank allows you to take on higher difficulty hunts and the guild provides you with a home and a modest living wage while you are in a town or village where a guild hall can be found. The guild also provides you with supplies you need to complete those missions (within reason) and access to their guild store. At this level you gain the benefits of legal backing as long as the hunter does not upset the guild.

HR 4 - 6
Prerequisite: Renown 10 or higher in the Guild | 4th level or higher
At this rank, you have begun to make a name for yourself and as such the guild provides you with access to purchase CR 2 or lower materials that the guild store offers including up to Uncommon magic items. Additionally you are given a lynian caretaker for your home or place of residence; even though they may not go hunt in the field with you, it is not unheard of for a caretaker to give its hunter gifts when they return from a hunt. The guild is more willing to let you take on "Hunts" that have a greater element of danger and higher chance of reward.

HR 7 - 9
Prerequisite: Renown 25 or higher in the Guild | 8th level or higher
It is at this range, the hunter is responsible for hunting some of the more dangerous monsters in the world when they become a threat to a settlement or the ecosystem it is located in. As such, you are given access to the guilds wingdrakes (see page 191 of the MHMM for its stat block) or other mounts for faster travel between locations. The Wingdrakes are only available for use on official guild business and not while working for other organizations\causes. Additionally the guild grants you permission to purchase purchase CR 4 or lower materials that the guild store offers including up to Rare magic items. When one reaches this level, they are generally well known within the area at large that is patrolled by the commission.

HR 10+
Prerequisite: Renown 50 or higher in the Guild | 12th level or higher
You have joined the elite hunters and given access to master ranked hunts (hunts kept hidden from the populace for their own safety and to prevent panic should the knowledge get out) and other secret information hidden away by the guild. As an elite hunter your words and actions reflect immensely on the guild, but also carry an immeasurable weight with them. As such nobles, and other members of high society treat you with great respect, unless you prove yourself untrustworthy. Additionally the guild grants you permission to purchase purchase CR 6 or lower materials that the guild store offers including up to Very Rare magic items. At this stage in a hunter's career that they have become well known not only on their own stomping grounds, but probably amongst all locations in which the commission operates.

Payment & Reimbursement

Members are rewarded for their services in helping to monitor & manage the populations of monster & various other creatures they have classified to fall under their domain. Hunters can be rewarded with payments that reach up to several hundred Gold Gilding to other treasures of equals value so that they may receive compensation in some form. In many cases, they are given jewels and other precious items to prevent them from having to carry a large sum of Kratocracy Gilding.

Other Benefits

Depending on the their rank within The Hunters Commission, a Commission Hunter enjoys several benefits and rewards that go far beyond what most professions are able to provide. The Guild will provide food & accommodations as long as a Guildhall exist in the area where you are currently located. The hunter will also receive support if they become entangled in legal complications. High class members of society enjoy being seen with exemplary Hunters and will go to great lengths to become to make social connections. As long as one does not run afoul of the commission, a hunter is able to engage in activities that earn more money and renown for them and be under the protections offered by them.

Perception

Purpose

As a member of The Hunters Commission, your primary goal is to prevent untoward damage to the monster populations, while providing a service and protection to society. Due to this, they are expected to keep tabs on the monster populations in areas and report any strange events to the guild leaders. The tenets of the Guild also prevent you from taking the same quest more than once in a month, unless it is necessary. However, if a monster threatens lives, towns, cities, etc. then you are allowed to hunt it to prevent destruction, even if the monster is rare.

Social Status

A sought after position as being able to attain higher ranks in the Guild allows for one to obtain wealth, prestige, and access to unknown services most people do not even know about. Several members are able to obtain connections and relationships with those of higher class and rub shoulder with high society that hopes to gain access to their skills for any number of reasons. If one achieves the highest ranks possible, they gain access to penthouse suites and the possibility of running a business/enterprise based on their name alone.

Each hunter is also given a Guild Card that they can customize at their own free will. They are used as an ID for hunters to list their name, awards they've collected, and the monsters they have slain; these cards are decorated to the content of the Hunter that owns it provided they maintain all the requisite information. The personal equipment that is maintained by each Hunter also differs as each one prefers various weapons & armors that suit their style.

Workplace

The workplace of these individuals are the world at large and nearly every environment is considered in their work with no place being off limit unless absolutely necessary.

Provided Services

Hunting and fulfilling request that have been provided to the Guild or that are sponsored by various groups that employ its services. Several engage in research and expanding the pool of knowledge that The Hunters Commission has to insure it is always effective in accomplishing the mandates to holds.

Dangers & Hazards

Dismemberment, Disability, & Death are constant possibilities for those who follow the profession. Disgrace and being kicked out the commission is also possible but only for the most heinous of crimes against it
