Meridan Lizardfolk Species in Vallonde | World Anvil

Meridan Lizardfolk

Those Lizardfolk who joined Oremar in Meridian have long since abandoned their old tribal ways, and their spirituality in favor of lawful civilization, and technology. Their once toughened scales have softened to be no more protective than most skin, and have abandoned their frenzied feeding and biting jaws. They have lost their knowledge of hunting and survival in exchange for scholarly knowledge. They have modified their skills in harvesting animals towards harvesting technology, gaining a natural ability to tinker, recycle, and repurpose tools. Some pieces of their past remain, such as their innate amphibious capabilities to swim and hold their breath for long periods of time. In desperate, unsavory situations, they can still attack with their biting jaws and a mouth filled with sharp teeth.

Age. Lizardfolk reach maturity around age 12 and rarely live longer than 50 years.
Size. Meridan Lizardfolk are slimmer and leaner than their brethren, giving them a slightly slimmer stature than Humans. Your size is Medium.
Alignment. Most lizardfolk are neutral, but Meridan Lizardfolk are lawful. They see the world as a place of chaos, and themselves as civilization and stability.
Swim Speed. You have a swimming speed of 30 feet.
Hold Breath. You can hold your breath for up to 15 minutes at a time.
Quick Learner. Any task that requires learning or absorbing information to complete takes half as long, such as a Wizard copying a new spell into their spellbook.
Scholar's Lore. You gain proficiency with two of the following skills of your choice: Arcana, History, Medicine, Nature, Religion.
Cunning Technology. As part of a short rest, you can recycle metal, wood, and parts from one or more items to create a toolkit of any kind. To do so, the value of the recycled items must be equal to or greater than the value of the toolkit. To use this trait, you need an appropriate set of tools, such as Tinker's tools, though others may function.
Bite. Your fanged maw is a natural weapon which you can use to make unarmed strikes, though it is a savage, uncivilized thing for a Meridan Lizardfolk to do. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength or Dexterity modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Draconic, and one other language of your choice.
