The Delmore Scholars

A group of world-traveling scholars, devoted entirely to learning the history of Valkosh and its mysteries. They say that if the Delmore Scholars cannot answer a question, no one can.

Structure

The Delmore Scholars work through a role-based system. Each role has a sub-hierarchy based on individual merit.

Seekers

Seekers are the Scholars that travel the world. They are trained to collect and record. Though encouraged to record as much as possible, it is not feasible to record everything, therefore Seekers are trained to determine what information is priority.
Iristical
Iristicals, or simply Iristics, are high position Seekers. They have proven themselves as exceptional record-keepers. They are often trained additionally in survival skills, such as cooking, hunting, and the like. They are also given priority when it comes to hiring guides or protections. They are often sent to more chaotic regions.

Speakers

Speakers are the politicians of the order. They are sent out to governments, both small and large, to ask for support or donations. Such things often involve the trading of knowledge, which must be approved by the Delmore Scholars' leaders.
Grandiars
Grandiars are the highest level of Speakers. They often partition with more powerful leaders and are able to trade certain knowledge and resources without having to seek approval from the leaders, though only up to a certain level of access.

Diadems

Diadems are the researchers, interpreters, and analysts of the Scholars. They use the info retrieved by the Seekers and attempt interpret it in a meaningful manner. They, of course, have access to previous research to call upon.
Seers
Seers are often the most intelligent of the Scholars and have been with the order their entire lives. Not only do they analyze high priority information, they also divide the information into accessible levels. It is they who determine what Grandiars are able to trade without requiring approval.

Sages

The leaders of the Delmore Scholars. Sages can be voted to the position from any role and they have generally had a diversified Council of Sages. It is said that Sages have access to knowledge kept even from the Seers. Beyond bureaucracy, the Council can choose to research a subject themselves, if it is given enough importance; if this is to happen, they will usually call upon the aid of truly exceptional Scholars. This has only happened several times throughout their history.

Public Agenda

The Delmore Scholars are founded around the idea of learning. Many join the Scholars due to their fascination with the world, its people, its pecularities, or any number of things. For any that possess those traits, the Scholars promise a place among them if they are deemed worthy.

Assets

The Scholars own several large establishments throughout Hadrim and a few small ones in other lands; the large establishments act as local or regional headquarters while the smaller ones will mostly be used by traveling Seekers, especially in foreign lands. They obtained much of this property through the trading of valuable information, which is something they specialize in. The largest of these settlements is Delmore Tower.   No one knows how much wealth the Scholars possess, but, as an organization, they spend little.

History

No one knows the origin of the Delmore Scholars other than they were founded near the end of the Golden Dominion, but seemingly independent of it.   They survived through the Dominion's fall and the chaos that followed. Some of their establishments were burned or ransacked, but the Scholars always seemed to be a step ahead of the looters and were able to escape with much of their recorded knowledge. The main headquarter along the eastern coast of the Triune was never assaulted.   Some believe the Heartland Empire rose up, in part, due to the knowledge the Scholars granted to the Altrian Graceful and the Dread Flame. Others believe the creation of Living Flames was originally discovered by them and then "sold" to the Dominion. None of these have been proven, however.   The Crystal Scholars exist today as an influential if distant group. They have been largely unaffected by the chaos of the world they inhabit.
