Altri

They say Altri walked the world thousands of years ago. Several accounts dating back to the Golden Dominion will often reference Altri as if he was a present figure, but there have been no reliable accounts in centuries. Did the Fyrians of old somehow have a special link to Altri that allowed for communication? Did Altri abandon humanity? Or did he never exist at all.

Figures similar to Altri have appeared in other cultures. The oral storytellers of the Haunt speak of a man crowned in flame that inroduced language to the first people, a figure they call the Man of Whispers. The Golden Dominion knew him as the Golden Father and the Fyrian God. The Garthians tell of the one that created the first flame and granted them warmth, the Hearth-Keeper. And members today of the Altrian Faithful called him the God of Humanity.
There is something behind these stories, but it is likely that none capture the true scope. The Golden Dominion, the most advanced civilization ever known, worshiped this figure. Did they know something we don't?

The Golden Father visited again, descending from the sky upon steps of fire. Once more He asked me how strong our Dominion was. I assured Him it was absolute, but I worry and He, of course, sensed this. He placed His hand upon my shoulder, His golden skin feeling warm to the touch. "Do not fall to worry as I have," He said. "I need my people to be strong. You will face trials, but they will not appear as such. They may not even arise during your lifetime. Warn your kin and tell them to carry this warning through the generations: Do not lose hope. The light may flicker, but it shall be ever-burning." And with that, my Lord left in a wisp of flame. It worries me, these trials. What trials could stand in the way of our Golden Dominion? What trials could worry God?
