Dao

These genies are formed when an Earth Elemental and a rejected soul fuse. They may be found on Valine undertaking gem mining operations. Despite their fear of losing their freedom and their hatred for anyone who would enslave them, the dao have no qualms about enslaving others. Acts of justice and compassion, on the other hand, are virtually always reciprocated.   Dao appreciate well-crafted things and precisely designed plots.   Petrification and sand-based spells are ineffectual against dao, who are impervious to the effects of earth-based spells. They also have no difficulty moving through non-magical layers of dirt and stone, as they do not inflict any damage to the material. Additionally, they may convey inanimate objects securely in their wake.   A dao may grant one restricted wish per day, but only to material-world beings. They are unable to grant themselves or other genies  wishes. Additionally, regardless of the wish they satisfy, it is always done in a warped or malevolent manner. It is entirely likely that a person seeking refuge will discover nothing but a lair for a monstrous beast.   Numerous genies  possess the power to move between the elemental planes, although they are typically "homebodies," much like the Elemental they were prior to becoming a dao.   When a dao dies, all of their possessions collapse into a fine crystalline powder, along with the corpse.   They are born with the capacity to perform spells using dirt, soil, and rocks as their medium. The dao are renowned for their close-range combat abilities with their fists and mauls, as well as their extensive magical arsenal.   The dao are said to be the most diligent and resourceful genie ethnic group. They spend the most of their time digging, sculpting, and excavating rocks. These activities contribute to the prevalence of slavery in their culture.   On the material plane, lone dao can occasionally be discovered striving to expand their mining interests by developing new markets and supply lines for their commodities. While mortal cities make them feel uneasy, mountains connect them emotionally to their ancestral home. Numerous dao engage in the profession of gem mining. The Empyrean Spires are densely populated by lone miners who operate autonomous mines in locations unreachable to the region's mining corporations.   Dao and efreet  are typically friendly, both verbally and commercially, trading wrought metals for minerals such as copper and zinc. Dao hold djinn, marids, and jann  in scorn and disgust.   Other species avoid the dao out of concern about abduction or enslavement. They employ Xorn and other creatures capable of moving through stone as scouts, to find their next vein of gems to mine.   Great Wizard have been known to extract dao from their homes and contain them in the material plane using magical gems and iron flasks to use their powers to the Wizard's ends.
