Gurdd

Gurdd are very territorial bug-like creatures with a very long neck.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Gurdd are large spider-like creatures with rocky shells and a long neck topped off with an enlarged insect head. They are about the size of a horse and can climb vertical surfaces but are never used as mounts, for they are wild creatures who will either attack or run away on sight depending on how threatening you are.

Genetics and Reproduction

Gurdd reproduce sexually during the warmer seasons. They only do this once a year because Gurdd are very territorial and don't enjoy letting others into their territory.

Growth Rate & Stages

When Baby Gurdd hatch from their eggs, their parents push them out of their territory and leave them to fend for themselves which normally causes them to unknowingly wander into different Gurdd territory and get promptly killed.

Ecology and Habitats

Gurdd mark their territory with a strange goo-like substance that they can shoot out of their mouths. When other Gurdd sees this they either steer clear or prepare for a fight. Inside of their territory, The Gurdds eat away at the stone to create burrows which when they are dead serve as homes for other creatures or a lucky Gurdd who found it empty.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Gurdd eat pure stone, which they can miraculously digest. Nobody knows how they do it, because no one who was willing to share the glory of its kill with a scholar has ever hunted one.
