A Golden Sufflebug is a giant bulbous golden spider. Though it's hard exoskeleton is not actual gold, it can be sold for a very high price to jewelers who wish to craft exquisite jewelry out of the stuff.

Anatomy

The Golden Snufflebug is a bulbous golden ball with 8 stubby legs and a small head with 8 beady eyes. Their whole body is covered in a shining gold exoskeleton which they use to reflect light and draw prey into their giant web. It is about as half as tall as a halfling and about twice the width.

Genetics and Reproduction

Golden Snufflebug reproduce sexually, but because of their rarity, once one Golden Snufflebug finds another, they usually mate for life.

Once the baby Snufflebugs hatch from the eggs, they immediately strike out on their own and make their own webs. They are normally eaten by predators or captured and sold.

Golden Snufflebugs are used to a nice cool and shady area but can make a web between any 2 objects and that's really all it needs to survive.

Golden Snufflebugs spin giant webs covering a large area, and will then proceed to eat almost any creature that gets trapped in the sticky web. First, they paralyze the creature with a deadly poison in their fangs so their prey cannot fight back, then they start to eat their prey.

Biological Cycle

Golden Snufflebugs struggle to catch food during the winter, so they normally have to leave their web to hunt for it themselves which can result in injury or death if they encounter one of their natural predators.

Golden Snufflebugs can be domesticated and used as excellent pest removers, but the process is agonizing and expensive because you are going to need a lot of antitoxin and bandages to counteract its poison.
