Giant Steelie
Giant Steelie is a giant beetle with a shell as hard as steel. They have been known to protect other smaller creatures and to look almost celestial with their shining body and wings. They pounce on the attacking creature and knock it to the ground with its immense weight and then proceed to hack and slash the offending creature with its razor-sharp wings.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Giant Steelies resemble a giant beetle with razor wings and a shell as hard as steel. Their shell and wings shine a glorious silver while their actual body is a shiny shade of deep blue. Protruding out of the shell that covers their head is a crest, almost resembling a halo of sorts. Giant Steelies can emit a bright flash from their shell blinding everything around it. Their abdomens grow brightly like a firefly when frightened, which is greatly amplified by their almost mirror-like shell.
Genetics and Reproduction
Giant Steelies reproduce sexually in a designated location which changes every year during the warmer seasons and then give birth about a week later.
Growth Rate & Stages
Both parents stay by the side of a baby Giant Steelie until they have reached the age where they can emit their own bright flash (3 months- 2 years).
Ecology and Habitats
Giant Steelies dwell in cool humid areas with lots of shade to keep their body cool.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Giant Steelies can leap great distances horizontally but not vertically which is why they eat the leafy foliage near the bottoms of trees. They will also feed on a multitude of plants that grow near the ground but not as often as the leaves.
Biological Cycle
Giant Steelies become slow-moving and sluggish during colder seasons and must hide most of the time to stay alive until it becomes warmer again.
