Gahlfang
The Gahlfang is a stealth hunter, using their color-changing scales to become almost invisible among the plants and foliage. They stalk their prey relentlessly, and will never give up on a hunt. Almost no one knows what a Gahlfang looks like because they are only visible when knocked unconscious. (see invisibility does not work on a Gahlfang)
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Gahlfang looks like a large green lizard with a stubby face and a long body. Although their front arms have a thin layer of membrane between them, they are not a type of Wyvern, they cannot fly. They also have an orange crest running down their back and to the tip of their tail. Their most unique capability is to use their hypersensitive scales to almost scan their environment, changing color to exactly resemble whatever is behind them, making them almost invisible except for their shadow which they cannot hide.
Genetics and Reproduction
Ghalfang's mating rituals are very bizarre. About once a year they all gather in a seemingly random location to mate, and this is one of the only times you can see them visibly unless you have the combat prowess to take one out. Once they are finished mating, they immediately split up and turn invisible again.
Growth Rate & Stages
Young Gahlfang are abandoned by their parents immediately after birth because the child needs no care. Young Gahlfang are capable of their color-shifting capabilities from birth, making it laughably easy for them to grow and hunt even as a child.
Ecology and Habitats
Gahlfang can live in almost any environment but prefer more cluttered areas to make it less likely for some creature to run into the Gahlfnag while it is invisible.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Gahlfang are vicious hunters who will stalk their prey for miles if it somehow manages to escape.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
Gahlfang scales are worthless when the Gahlfang dies or it is separated from the monster so they don't sell for much.
