Holy Man

Rumors have reached King Harold's court that on the 6th of Ready'reat, in the coastal village of Harrvordr, Vrelect, a strange man dressed in rags appeared outside of the Great House. The stranger began proselytizing to a growing crowd with great enthusiasm. He stated that his only son, a lumber merchant, had died in a recent raid in Kedwin, and after learning of his demise, he had been overwhelmed with grief and had denounced his faith in the Celestial Flame. That same night, he claimed, a messenger wreathed in flame had come to him in a dream and directed him to seek an audience with The One True God. He continued that, on the next day, he alone climbed Mount Elesharr at the mouth of the Bay of Ruin where he fasted for ten days and ten nights while engaged in deep meditation; and on the morning of the eleventh day, as the sun's rays cut the frigid mountain air he was overwhelmed with a deep and abiding warmth, as though a fire had been lit in his soul, whereupon the man claimed to have spoken directly with The One True God.   The man claimed the Celestial Flame bid him to spread the word to the faithful that The Church had grown corrupted by the vices of men, and that the scourges ravaging the realm were the result of its corruption. The man exclaimed through joyous tears that the One True God had promised to returned his son to him, unharmed, if he could but convince a handful of the faithful to follow him to Mount Elesharr and establish a temple to truly worship him as he intended. A host of the local populace followed the man to the mountains before the local guard could apprehend him. The local bailiff was able to track the procession to the foothills of the mountains where the trail ended at a sheer rock face.
This is an emergent situation that requires action by the council.
