Llyn Niwl (Linn nule)

Llyn Niwl lays at the south egress of the Elder Road at the base of the Ashib Mountains in the Northwest of the Kilimenga Expanse. The cool air from the mountains mix with the hot humid air of the jungle causing a perpetual fog to exist on the lake's surface. On it's southern shore people have established a small town of hardened adventurers and big game hunters, the town itself though rarely has any trouble from the mega fauna that inhabit the Expanse.
While one would expect that the denizens of the Expanse to have encroached on this otherwise peaceful and nutrient rich lake it seems that it has some means of fending them off, while remaining indifferent to the settlers that have arrived. The lake teems with fish, amphibians, and attracts a myriad of birds, particularly songbirds.
When the first adventurers made it through the Elder Road they reported that there was some unearthly light the actively repelled the monstrosities of the underdark. However unnatural the light was, it gave respite to those weary travelers. Many in the night claimed to have seen a woman out on the water looking over them, but every endeavor to find her the next day was met with failure. Today the light seems diminished as though the light of the town overpowers it, but rumors of singing and mysterious figures remain. Most disconcerting however is the report of an island somewhere in it's midst, how could something as large and immobile as an island resist detection after countless searches. These searches lead to several incidents involving the sudden disappearances of those on the hunt quelled much further attempts and remains to this day undiscovered.
