Compass of Teleportation
This item appears to be a large and rather heavy compass at first glance. However, instead of directional points on the face, this compass has seven tiny, evenly spaced coloured stones, one in each of the colours red, burgundy, purple, Indigo, blue, green and yellow. The 'pointer' is moved manually by use of a dial. Along with this item were found seven larger pebbles in a velvet pouch, one in each of the corresponding colours. When the dial is adjusted to point at one of the colours on its face, the holder of the compass is teleported to the corresponding pebble.
It is currently unknown exactly how this device works, or what (if any) the limit is on its teleportation range. It is also unclear what the maximum number/weight of creatures which can be teleported is: its limit appears to be four adult humanoids of medium size (all of whom must be touching the holder of the compass), but it is unknown whether this is a hard limit - four beings - or whether that is based on mass.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Unknown at present, though further study may enable greater understanding and perhaps allow for the creation of similar objects in the future, or even improvement of the item's existing abilities.
Current Holder
Rarity
Though teleportation magic is known to exist in many forms, such a compact design combined with the ability to link with moveable objects, rather than a fixed point in space, is highly unusual.
Dimensions
5 inches across, circular.
Raw materials & Components
The case is made of a reflective metal, probably brass, and a thick glass lens which protects the dial within. The materials which make up the face and dial of the compass behind the glass are unknown, although it appears as though the tiny coloured circles which can be selected by the dial may be of the same painted stone as the larger versions which provide the teleportation 'markers'. These larger stones appear to be ordinary pebbles painted with coloured pigment.
