A Wing and a Prayer

A poem by Llywelyn Amberhide, first presented as a public reading and then gifted to Joseph Cassius Merca.

Purpose

The poem was delivered verbally as a gift to the hoard of the dragon Zemidriath, who hoards tales, poems and other literary works instead of gold. After this, the paper copy was handed as a gift to Merca, suggesting he may be the subject of the poem.

A Wing and a Prayer
Under the wing of an angel, I feel protected
Through prayers to Dianecht, I feel connected

Peace is said to be offered on the wings of a dove
Prayers can bring hope, faith and love

Wings of an eagle provide steady flight
I pray you remain steady and strong through this fight

Butterflies have wings to fly playfully free
And free from this monster is what I pray we'll soon be

Birds spread their wings as they leave the nest
I'm spending my prayers to you'll always be blessed

Go fight and win this battle you didn't start
On the wings of an angel and prayers from my heart.
