Bar-Ashthenar Settlement in Valdoria | World Anvil

Bar-Ashthenar

Bar-Ashthenar is the trade center for the northern regions of Fin-Nosfinhar. Its proximity to The Fenshahar River and being one of the stops on (the train system) that extends between Fin-Nosfinhar and The Emantla Empire gives it the ability to be so prosperous.   This walled city is built in like a spoke and wheel. The walls form a circle around the city with each of the main gates opening to a main road that leads to the center of the city, where the market district is located. The smaller roads form connections between the spokes and form the arteries of this city. It has been said that Bar-Ashthenar is one of the most difficult cities to get around due to this setup.   The main guard house is in the middle of the market district, in fact the market district was built around the main citadel which is where the city guard has its main base.   On the outskirts of the walls, along the river, there is a small port which is used to bring goods into the city from all over Valdoria. Another major transportation hub is the station for the train system. This is located outside of the western wall of the city.    Anyone who wishes to enter the city is subject to search and/or questioning. This is to help to keep the violence in the city to a minimum and to help the guards to maintain order.

Demographics

Most of the population within Bar-Ashthenar are human, though there are many of all the other races as well. There are also a fair number of constructs that are used for labor within the city, as well as a few slaves, though those are only ones who are owned by foreign traders.

Infrastructure

There is an impressive river port south of the walls. As well as a sprawling train depot to the west.

Architecture

The city is built with a middle-eastern style of architecture, most of the smaller buildings are made of a type of adobe brick, while the larger ones are made of stone.
