Divine Pulse at Belor Bight

The Divine Pulse was an event on the coast of the Belor Bight on the southeastern side of Cryhton. The deities power collected and then broke, sending shockwaves of divine energy for hundreds of miles, interfering with divine magical persons and abilities.

Cult involvement

A cult to the deities gathered on the shores of the Belor Bight to worship every known deity. Their ambitious plan came from hubris: they wanted to be recognized by every deity, if even for a moment.

Preparations

Months before the date of ritual, many local members gathered with emptied coffers to buy supplies and material to construct housing for everyone involved. In four months they raised a dozen-dozen buildings, assisted by divine magic of course. These buildings were of livable quality and made to be temporary.

Gathering of people

The cultists came a week before, staying in the buildings and practicing the rites and rituals. Over 100,000 people came for the express purpose of this ceremony.

Day of Celebration

Dark clouds hung in the skies around the shore, but not deterred, the celebrants began to pray. Priests began the rites, using the prayers of the people to call upon the deities. The prayers swiveled between the deities, their names hopping from mouth to mouth in a divine cacophony. Eventually, their wish was, unfortunately, granted.

Deities falling

By the afternoon, lights thought to be falling stars settled in the air over the ocean. These lights gathered up into one gigantic cloud. The priests called it a "divine cloud." Many different colors made up the cloud, so it was like a spectrum of diverse, coruscating lights. The cloud shook at the cult's screaming prayers then burst in a blinding flash. The lights spewed across the sky and into the heavens, splitting the clouds. People fell over from the energy, shaking under the mighty pulse.

Destruction

The pulse toppled the buildings on the shore and the force pushed through the entire coastlands. A wave rose from the blast 100 feet tall and crashed down, pushing millions of gallons of water out from the epicenter. The ensuing waves swallowed what people did not retreat. Every tree within 50 miles exploded from the wall of force that crashed into it. People in their houses without any knowledge of the explosion died under their own collapsed roofs. Thousands upon thousands perished.

Aftermath

The hundred people that survived fled to the nearest untouched town 100 miles away. Anything before then was structurally affected and many places were deemed unlivable. The survivors one by one left, turned themselves in, or drowned themselves out of shame. They believed they had caused the Divine Pulse, as they now called it. No high ranking officials survived.

Legacy

None have ever tried to commune with the deities again in such a manner. Deities confirmed by high priests that they had absolutely no involvement in this whatsoever. The question remains of what caused this then? What could have that a profusion of power such that it destroys almost everything within 50 miles of its epicenter?
